Those who can’t do, teach.

A lovely compliment from my bestie "You love us all so fiercely 😘"

Truer words have never been spoken.

Tonight out of nowhere, I got some amazing news - a Christmas miracle if you will. Two long lost friends reached out to tell me that they found their way back to each other. Not only is that amazing news, but that they needed to tell me, well that's the best gift.

While I'm glad that my life hasn't made me cynical, I'm also glad there are still things that can surprise me and fill me with complete joy, not because they directly have to do with me, but because they prove that amazing forces are at work in the world.

Or, just, god bless us every one.

All aboard the Christmas train!

It's been a long time since I have loved the Christmas season. If I had to guess, well over a decade. If you're a longtime reader, you may wonder how that could be possible. What about tree day? Those hallmark snowmen?

All true. There are always highlights - my annual ugly sweater party, the pre-Christmas Italian meat and cheese fest with my sister and BIL, hanging with my bestie and her fam…

But this year, despite being behind, I'm far ahead.

My friend and her son helped me get all my Christmas stuff from the attic, which I still have never been in. My elves not on shelves came for their annual tree decorating. They're not so little anymore, but our time has evolved into something even better. We get to chat and watch super awful Christmas movies. One of my elves is leaving for college next year, so I tried to enjoy the moment.

For the first time since I started my ugly sweater, I had time on my hands. So, I decorated the house before my elves got here. I set up everything, how I wanted it. Does it look like Christmas threw up in here? Yep. Do I love it? YEP!

Having my friends here, seeing all the work I put into my home the past year was awesome. Spending time together was even better.

Waking up each day since and working surrounded by decorations and lights, has been wonderful.

Even more lovely, is the overwhelming amount of invitations when I'm riding solo for Christmas, was heartwarming. Truthfully, I don't even mind being on my own. I have my Holly and enjoy my downtime.

Feeling so comfortable in my home, my skin, my job, in control of my life…I can honestly say, best Christmas and best year ever.

Of course, bad things still happen, shit goes sideways, but as one of my boys said recently, I feel bulletproof. Like Neo in the Matrix dodging bullets.

I'm going to savor this, because I've earned it.

Data don’t lie

Definitely a theme.

Pure Joy

Whew…another crazy adventure in the life of G! Almost 6 months ago, I was celebrating my birthday with my two oldest girlfriends. My one friend told us that Mariah Carey was doing a Christmas concert and tickets went on sale that Monday. I said it sounded interesting. I've never seen Mariah, so sure I wouldn't mind going to check her out. I forgot all about it until I got a text message that said "guess who's going to Mariah Carey on December 3 and sitting third row center on the floor?" I figured it was my friend Nicole who sent the message. I was wrong. She had bought the three of us seats and we would later find out that it also came with a VIP package. I was floored. I've never sat that close at any concert let alone a huge production and a diva like Mariah. Unfortunately, I wasn't sure if I was gonna even make it because my small cold that I woke up with on Thanksgiving turned into a full-blown antibiotic taking extravaganza. But I pushed through and it was the most amazing once in a lifetime opportunity experience. I would've been happy just being at the VIP room with my pal Santa who showed up on stage dancing with Mariah. From the confetti snow storms through hearing one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time it was a truly amazing experience. If I had to say the best part of everything though was being with my two best friends from my childhood dancing in the VIP room while the DJ spun old school dance Classics and Christmas music. My other friend captured this awesome photo of me and Santa. I think my face probably says it all. Despite any challenges this year or the past few, I never take for granted how amazingly lucky and blessed I am to be loved by so many people and love all of them in return. Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!
