Quotes of note, part deux

Alex Trebek would call this category "potpourri"….

We'll be drinking margaritas by the sea, mamacita.

You know what…I'm tired of dumbing it down. I'm tired of pretending to be interested in the mundane. I don't want to do either again. I used to think it was just about hating someone trying to control me…count my drinks…but it's so much more that I let take over me. If you don't appreciate learning new things and having new experiences then onward to the next.

People feel things that are inconvenient. It sucks, but it happens.

I'm never the one. People can smell it on me.

You're right. People don't have their shit together, but for our sake, we have to try harder.

I think a lot of people would like to be upfront about a lot of things but honesty doesn't just spill out of a lot of people. I think it should.

Get one last look at this hot fucking mess my friends! She has served us well.

He was curious about everyone and everything. That's why being able to hold his curiosity felt so good.

It is complete now to ends of time are nearly tied. It is complete now, two ends of time are neatly tied...a one way street she walked it til the end of the line...and there she meets the faces she keeps in her heart and mind. They say, goodbye, tomorrow Wendy you're going to die.

To avoid sadness is also to avoid love.

The opposite of love is indifference.

Do not stand

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Quotes of note

Randomness that I've collected over the years…

"I went searching for blood family but found chosen family instead"

A tree that bends is stronger than one that breaks

Is the definition of life constant adaptions brought on by a series of never ending series of mistakes

Never tire of the smallest discovery, always see the magic in the ordinary

Your days are numbered. Use them to throw open the windows of your soul to the sun.

Breathe. You're the same girl who had a major life altering procedure, went home for thanksgiving and ran an event at the Capitol three days later. The pain you have is temporary even though it feels never ending. And it sucks, you know it sucks. And it hurts. And you cry. So many tears. It never stops. Almost 30 years, countless tears and it still doesn't stop. There are no answers, you've worked for countless patients, to help them get well and no one can help.

The worse thing about being deceived is knowing you weren't worth the truth

I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else's muse. I am not a muse. I am the somebody. End of fucking story.

More issues than just a box of tissues.

Today, is the beginning of a transformative day in my life. Today is the big 4-0 and for me, it is time to imagine my life as I wish it to be and allowing myself to become immersed in the realness and joy of it. Always and forever, I am thankful for my family and my friends for the all of the love, laughter and happiness. - Big L

I know it hurts but sometimes you have to see a man for how they really are not how they were or could be.

"I don't understand a God that would let us meet if we can't ever be together."

"It's a scary thing how quickly the people you are closest to can become strangers."

Veronica: "You know what I want, babe?"
J.D.: "What?"
Veronica: "Cool guys like you out of my life."

To everyone here who matters, you're vapor, you're spam, a waste of perfectly good yearbook space, and nothing's ever gonna change that.

Don’t be one of those bastards…

I'm not alone…it seems like everyone is having a rough go.. waiting for a new year and fresh start…but, it's still the season, and for that I'm grateful…so, here's my favorite monologue from my actual favorite Christmas movie. While I quote Christmas Vacation daily, this movie always has my heart:

It's Christmas Eve! It's... it's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we... we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be. It's a... miracle. It's really a sort of a miracle. Because it happens every Christmas Eve. And if you waste that miracle, you're gonna burn for it, I know what I am talking about. You have to do something. You have to take a chance. You do have to get involved. There are people that are having... having trouble making their miracle happen. There are people that don't have enough to eat, or people that are cold. You can go out and say hello to these people. You can take an old blanket out of the closet and say "Here!", you can make them a sandwich and say "Oh, by the way, here!" I... I get it now! And if you... if you give, then it can happen, then the miracle can happen to you! It's not just the poor and the hungry, it's everybody's who's gotta have this miracle! And it can happen tonight for all of you! If you believe in this spirit thing, the miracle will happen and then you'll want it to happen again tomorrow. You won't be one of these bastards who says "Christmas is once a year and it's a fraud", it's NOT! It can happen every day, you've just got to want that feeling. And if you like it and you want it, you'll get greedy for it! You'll want it every day of your life and it can happen to you! I believe in it now! I believe it's going to happen to me now! I'm ready for it! And it's great. It's a good feeling, it's really better than I've felt in a long time. I, I, I'm ready. Have a Merry Christmas, everybody.

Making of a Murderer

Somehow, I have angered the animal community this year... I turned up the heat yesterday and heard this giant squealing noise and the whole heater went nuts. I turned it off, then it kicked back on and started rattling. Today, the heat guy came and told me it was likely the motor and about $700… He got the part… then found the issue - it was a mouse in the motor, apparently trying to be a hamster So, I'm now 4 hornets nests in (2 found after the removal), 1 raccoon and a mouse down. The only humor in all this is that the heat guy kept saying "you're a murderer" and that I didn't have to replace an entire furnace.

Add that to the broken hot water heater, shower head, leaking sunroom and broken front door…homeownership ain't for the weak.

Praying for a better 2024.

Captured

This little momma cost thousands in damages, broke multiple vents, part of the roof and separated the drain pipe from the roof. She's safe to have her babies elsewhere now.

To Catch a Predator

Oh relax, not that type. Instead, amidst having absolutely nothing else going on and with fall client madness in full swing… I now am enjoying the fun of trapping a raccoon that broke into my attic, took out a drain pipe, part of the roof and knocked out a gable vent.

Since I'm the type of person who literally can't hurt a fly without screaming bloody murder, I got to find out that Mount Laurel no longer covers animal control as part of our taxes. Yay for another $1,000 to hire animal control…on top of that, the interior damage isn't covered by homeowners insurance and my deductible is another grand for the exterior.

And here I thought the volleyball size hornets nests were bad. Ha!

This is all, of course, if I can get my very noisy nighttime partying house guest to vacate.

Life just keeps getting better. Every. Single. Day.

used, abused and so confused

While I would still much rather be rocking my own gypsy soul…unfortunately, here's the aspiration while I continue to await my release. Thoughts and prayers…as I continue the never ending climb out of the darkness.

When all the dark clouds roll away
And the sun begins to shine
I see my freedom from across the wayAnd it comes right in on timeWell it shines so bright and it gives so much lightAnd it comes from the sky aboveMake me feel so free, make me feel like meAnd it lights my life with love
And it seems like and it feels likeAnd it seems like, yes it feels likeA brand new dayA brand new dayYeah, yeah, yeah
I was lost and double crossedWith my hands behind my backI was long-time hurt and thrown in the dirtShoved out on the railroad trackI've been used, abused and so confusedAnd I didn't have nowhere to runBut I stood and lookedAnd my eyes got hookedOn that beautiful morning sun
And it seems like, yes it feels likeAnd it seems like, oh yes it feels likeA brand new dayA brand new dayYeah, yeah
And the sun shines down all on the groundYeah, and the grass is oh so greenAnd my heart is still and I've got the willAnd I don't really feel so meanHere it comes, here it comesHere it comes right nowAnd it comes right in on timeWell it eases me and it pleases meAnd it satisfies my mind
And it seems like, yes it feels likeAnd it seems like, yes it feels likeA brand new dayA brand new dayYeah, yeah, yeahA brand new day
Seems like a brand new dayFeels like a brand new daySeems like a brand new dayFeels like a brand new daySeems like a brand new day

There’s someone for everyone

Or some saying…I have a lot of someones out there. But, my 1/3 knows me way better than anyone should. By now, she's likely found my Easter egg hunt that I left for her here.

1/3 - thank you for all the music that is now on repeat. Thank you for being exactly who you are - authentic, kind, genuine. Thank you for loving me as much as I love you.

That's one of the more magical things about not having your own kids, but watching these, now young adults, grow up. Each one of them is fearless in their own way, with a distinct personality. And, as far as I can tell, they're never afraid to be exactly who they are.

That's a choice I made years ago, and it's a hard one. Conforming was never in the cards for me and has only led to my failures. But, those aside, I've never been ashamed to be who I am…quirky, weird with a voice that sounds like a Muppet. I laugh too loud, too hard and yes, I do, in fact, sing unabashedly throughout my old people ShopRite when grocery shopping. I'm the person who years after it was cool screams YOLO and runs out of a car to jump on swings on the beach as I look up at the stars.

You can love me, maybe you hate me…or a healthy mix of both, but it's something that can never be taken away.

It's funny…before these kids that I consider a part of me were around, I spent my time mentoring interns. And amazingly, although they are now either my equals career wise or well beyond me, one still calls every New Year's at midnight - no matter where he is. Another has to text me if there's a political debate on or something amusing that we can still laugh about 15 years later.. and just recently, yet another called for career advice. We haven't worked together or even seen each other for 7 years, but I was her first call. I still keep the handwritten thank you note from her right by my desk, to remind me that my actions make a difference. An hour of my time to help her think, tell her all the pitfalls I fell into and remind her of her worth, meant a lot to her, but probably more to me.

I could spend my time in sadness - I have plenty to be upset about…I could be angry, and the people who love me would find that more than justified at the moment. But, that's not who I am and there's little point my wasting my time on the awfulness that keeps trying to tear me down and creep in, when I can push back with love and hope in my heart.

And while that's priceless, it's only found when you are your authentic self and have spent a lifetime cultivating an amazing tribe of friends and family who embrace you with love and support.

Heartfelt thanks

Despite everything, I continue to find ways to be grateful for the little things. So, thank you to everyone who has helped me. This has always been one of my favorite songs…

Some days are diamonds
Some days are rocks Some doors are open Some roads are blocked
Sundowns are golden Then fade away But if I never do nothing I'll get you back some day
'Cause you got a heart so big It could crush this town And I can't hold out forever Even walls fall down
And all around your island There's a barricade It keeps out the danger It holds in the pain
Sometimes you're happy Sometimes you cry Half of me is ocean Half of me is sky
But you got a heart so big It could crush this town And I can't hold out forever Even walls fall down
And some things are over Some things go on And part of me you carry Part of me is gone
But you got a heart so big It could crush this town And I can't hold out forever Even walls fall down
Baby you got a heart so big It could crush this town And I can't hold out forever Even walls fall down They fall down

Light bulb!

When you're on your own, sometimes it's just better to laugh at your mistakes. Today's lesson: all light bulbs are not the same size.

But at least I still have the historical lesson I learned that a raw potato does not, in fact, remove a broken bulb from a fixture. Thanks again to my DC security guard for coming to my rescue back then. Sadly in the burbs, I rescue myself which involves yet another Amazon return.

Heeee-yaaa!!

I don't start shit, but I can tell you how it ends

Easter eggs

I recently just heard the term "Easter eggs"…I had no idea what it meant. Today, I found one hidden in my Spotify account.

I saw it comingLike a knife into my stomachAnd there ain't no use in runningWhile she's twisting itRan out of patienceTold me I'm both kinds of wastedLike this, self-deprecation that I'm swimming inThis candle's burning at both endsI think I'm learning there's a point of no returningThis is it
She says I'm a scumbagWants to take her love backStory of my lifeWhy am I such an asshole?Everything is my faultHappens every timeWhy?
Can't even argueI'm too fucked up, it's too hard toSmashed my heart in like a cartoonThere's no fixing it (yeah)But what's the difference between broken love and prison? She said "Why you never listen?"'Least I think she did (yeah)
I don't know, I don't know how it got so badBut it got so badI don't know why I make you sad
She says I'm a scumbagWants to take her love backStory of my lifeWhy am I such an asshole?Everything is my faultHappens every timeWhy? (ooh, why?)
I know, I know that she hates meI know, I know that she can't take meI hope she knows I can't face myself right nowI don't know, I don't know how it got so badWhen it got so badI don't know why I make you sad
She says I'm a scumbagWants to take her love backStory of my lifeWhy am I such an asshole?Everything is my faultHappens every timeWhy?
I know, I know that she hates meI know, I know that she can't take meI know she knows that it breaks me down, down, downI know, I know that she hates meI know, I know that she can't take meI hope she knows I can't face myself right

Ending

Kudos to New Amsterdam for a perfectly written finale and even better Kodaline tune.
I never seen it comingI couldn't read the signsNow I know that it means nothingBut you are always on my mind
I got tricked into believingYou were the only one for meBut the truth can be deceivingAnd I was just too young to see
They told meEverything works out in the endEverything works out in the endThey told meEverything works out in the endEverything works out in the endOh, oh
You got me treading on the water'Cause I've never learned to swimNow that it's all overI better learn to start again

Carry on

Well, I woke up to the sound of silence and criesWere cutting like knives in a fist fightAnd I found you with a bottle of wineYour head in the curtains and heart like the Fourth of July
You swore and said we are notWe are not shining starsThis I know, I never said we areThough I've never been through Hell like thatI've closed enough windows to know you can never look back
If you're lost and alone, or you're sinkin' like a stoneCarry onMay your past be the sound of your feet upon the groundCarry on
Carry on, carry on
So I met up with some friends at the edge of the nightAt a bar off 75And we talked and talked about how our parents will dieAll our neighbors and wives
But I'd like to think I can cheat it allTo make up for the times I've been cheated onAnd it's nice to know when I was left for deadI was found and now I don't roam these streetsI am not the ghost you are to me
If you're lost and alone or you're sinkin' like a stoneCarry onMay your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground, andCarry on
Whoa, my head is on fire, but my legs are fineAfter all, they are mineLay your clothes down on the floorClose the door, hold the phones, show me howNo one's ever gonna stop us now
'Cause we are, we are shining starsWe are invincible, we are who we areOn our darkest day when we're miles awaySo we'll come, we will find our way home
If you're lost and alone or you're sinkin' like a stoneCarry onMay your past be the sound of your feet upon the ground, andCarry on

Just the same

Smash all the picturesWhere I am in the frameToy with my emotionsAs if it is a gameIn the heat of the momentCall someone else's nameI would love you just the same
Drag me through the dirtCut me to the boneLeave me for deadLaugh your way back homeI'd still be smiling like a madman in the rainI would love you just the same
So do your worst to meTest my loyaltyI will pass with distinction of first degreeI lost my mind to youSomewhere down the line that you drewBut I only have myself to blame'Cause I'd still love you just the same
Flood me with malice'Til the river's running redMake me an outlawPut a price upon my headAnd cast me to exile or a house for the insaneAnd I will love you just the same
So do your worst to meTest my loyaltyI will pass with distinction of first degreeI lost my mind to youSomewhere down the line you drewBut I only have myself to blame'Cause I still love you just the same

Gina

Gina, Gina
Don't you cry
Gina, Gina
Wonder why, I said wonder why
Gina, Gina
Dance all night
Gina, Gina
Feel all right
Gina, Gina
Can't you see
Gina, Gina
You're just free, I said you're just free
Well once upon a time
A long time ago
There was a rock 'n' roll queen
We came to know
She kept on dancing
She'd dance till dawn
She'd dance till the people and the liquor were gone
She kept on dancing as the crowd grew large
When it came to grooving, you know, she was in charge
She still finds ways today to groove somehow
In fact she could be listening to this music right now
Gina, Gina
Don't you cry
Gina, Gina
Wonder why, I said wonder why

Stop...

Collaborate and listen. Damn 90s had some important foreshadowing lyrics.

I'm not Ice, but I have a brand new edition. Yea...I went there. I spent the last 24+ Hours trapped in my own downward spiral. Thoughts of 9/11 haunted me as I watched domestic terrorists (and after being scolded / schooled I don't give a rats ass which radical side they were from).

I was unable to function. I received multiple news alerts, which typically I ignore but when I turned on the TV, I saw people invading - yes invading - the Capitol. Hubs called on his way home and I couldn't even speak full sentences.

DC was my home for almost a decade, it is my city. No disrespect to Philly and my beloved MTL. I fell in love with DC years ago, starting with Alexandria where my second company was born. The "start up" that I was part of. It was where I moved to only knowing one person - my Will, my gay BFF. I started with nothing there...we shared a studio for the first month before we landed in our apartment that quickly turned into a co-op. I was forced into being a grownup and buying the place (because I hated moving that much, so I made the means work).

It's a city, yes, but after years in the NYC area it always felt like a small town to me. It was home away from home. So much that I often forgot the dangers but was reminded when friends were mugged or bad things happened. But I was mostly well watched and cared for, which is a good thing because I may have been older, but I was living single and alone and quite frankly a lot of the time, immaturely and stupid.

I did a lot of growing there. I grew strong and weak, in equal measure. But, I loved it. I loved giving up my car, I loved walking anywhere I needed to go. Walking became my thing. It's where I trained for my 60 mile walk...you can search back to those days. I was cheered by security and I left my office which was 1 1/2 blocks from the Capitol on New Jersey Ave - ah, the irony for the Jersey girl to work on New Jersey Avenue.

When I trained at night, my walk started on NJ Ave where I walked straight up to the Capitol, behind it to the Senate building (Russell) and past the Supreme Court, over to the House side (Rayburn) and back through the Capitol grounds...past the reflecting pool and down the Mall to the Washington monument.

That was my main path for 6 solid months. I even did a Flat Stanley project for Emily taking him through all these places.

To see what transpired yesterday, broke my heart and my soul. I never thought I could be as or more broken than 9/11. Watching the sheer horror of the animals scaling the walls with ropes, breaking the windows of that building. It was a horror movie to me. I needed to process. You see, if living there and walking there wasn't enough, it's not that easy to get into the Capitol. I know this because I held multiple work events there. I joke that I'm on the terrorist list given my airport security experiences but I can assure you, to get in is no small task. I don't know why it was that easy for these infidels to break through. That was the hardest to overcome. But it might as well have been watching someone break into my home.

That's sacred ground to me...it is to many. It should be. You don't just waltz into the Capitol or get into offices. Those are typically locked. It's a right you earn. Is it the people's house as they yelled on TV? It is. But there's a privilege to be in there. You wouldn't Desecrate it. You feel the history and power when you pass security and walk into the rotunda. If you don't feel that, you're dead inside. Not sorry, that's fact.

I watched for about 8 solid hours the horror...fascinated that my own family who I didn't speak to until today didn't even seem to know what took place. And today, I was paralyzed and numb.

I reached across party lines, in the hopes of gaining understanding of why other Americans thought this was justified. I was met with hatred, name calling, being told it was all staged and fake. I lost hope and honestly, I didn't function for work.

After all that, a call with my therapist, I felt stable but still lacking. I logged back into Facebook to get my latest thrashing of insults and accusations. I stumbled upon (and we all know that FB feed is fucked) someone bitching that someone else was being an anti-vaxer on their feed (ugh). But as I read the comments, it struck me that something was off. The guy's page, he's a smart guy. Very smart. The commenter was someone who's a known ball buster but has a good heart. Determined, I reached out to the ball buster and asked what his actual post and question was. I asked, in the words of Max Goodwin, how I could help. He sent me the post and explained he was being legit because the vaccine is made with new science and tech. I'm not a doctor, researcher or scientist but I am in biotech Comms, so I gave him the best answers I could. He thanked me profusely and explained he really was just asking a question but get why someone would think he was coming across otherwise.

It was such a stupid misunderstanding at the worst possible time. We had a great conversation. I could've left it there but the guy he was asking...I knew it wasn't his typical response, I've called on him many of times for insight myself. So, I figured, what the hell, I've been called a million bad things this morning in my quest of understanding, I would let him know.

He was taken aback with a simple "oh" as a response. I let him know that the guy was asking a legit question because of his respect for his intelligence and knowledge. We also had a great conversation.

As I said to both of them...we're all getting nowhere fast talking AT each other instead of TO each other. And for a brief moment today (and a startling one to my husband who saw me smiling my crazy I'm going to lose it smile), a small victory.

And it dawned on me, there's an easy way to start being part of the solution. Stop. Collaborate. Listen. Yea - it's simple lyrics from Vanilla Ice who performed at that orange dumbass NYE gathering. But it's smart. Just stop. Fucking listen. Stop waiting to talk over someone or your opportunity to be right.

We're all here together. We have to be over the right and wrong. As our can't be Prez soon enough said yesterday "enough is enough is enough." And damn that Hamilton but "if you stand for nothing, what will you fall for?"

So, here's me, making the step or the pledge to not only listen but work to solve problems where I can or be there to help.

And yes, holy shit, did I think 2021 would come in this hard? FFS, it's a week in!

Nope. But here we are and here I go.

Let's do this.

There is no bad guy

Here's the deal...there is no bad guy. I've watched a million stories and there is always 3 sides to every story. So if anyone thinks I'm blaming them for my lot in life, I'm actually thankful for where I wound up in the present.

I don't blame anyone for my mistakes. I own them all. The same stories the kids tell about being excited for Aunt G to come home because I was the only "adult" to watch the play that they made up is the same Aunt G they watched being a drunken fool.

If I learned anything it's to own all the stupid shit I've done and continue to do. But I do the best I can and I keep trying. Every. Single. Day.

That's all we can do. Be ourselves, and that comes with the price of being silly, stupid and making mistakes. That doesn't make it right, but it makes us human. And if anyone out there sees this than that's my belated Christmas wish. Be yourself. Be stupid. Be human. It's legit all we are and all we ever will be.
Just own it. Own who you are and what you want to be. Apologize for your wrongs. Own your mistakes. But be yourself. Don't leave anyone hanging on the hopes of who they think you can be. Just be you. But if you're not who someone thinks they are... set them straight. They deserve your truth no matter what your flying freak flag shows.

The end is always nearer than you think, my loves, so do it your way.

Look at this photograph...

Ok, that's enough Nickelback. But seriously, if a picture tells 1,000 words there's so many more behind this picture. I finally moved back to Jersey after years of living everywhere else but home. I was married...trying to make that work. We didn't get to make this party the year before, because "we had too much to do" with our wedding. (While an amazing party, there's nothing left when it's overpriced and overplanned). That was already a bone of contention since I had never missed a Magni Christmas party and I was devastated.

The year before, I was scolded for drinking too much...which back in the day was not a real thing at the Magni party. It was the party of the year. MY party of the year. No matter where in the world I was, it was the one thing I could depend on to see everyone I loved in one place. You just didn't miss this party.

No event came without rules during this marriage and this was no different. I was warned that if I acted how I did 2 years prior, we would be leaving immediately.

I was finally home, but I was trapped and I never realized just how much until I stepped inside the house. I walked into the kitchen in a noticeable daze. I remember friends coming up to me, asking me if I was ok. I was in the middle of a full anxiety attack everyone and everything was fuzzy. I was offered a drink - nothing new about that. I sipped slowly, knowing I was being watched. Then I slipped into some nog, which was a common staple for me at the party.

Eventually, I realized that I could slip more booze into the nog going unnoticed while I'm sure people kept my ex distracted. And then for this moment, the same soundtrack, as it had been for nearly a decade, was bumping. I danced like no one was watching and became me again - if only for this moment. Someone caught this picture of me, remembering how it felt to be free because for that moment, I was. I paid for it later, and if memory serves I wasn't allowed to celebrate NYE with my friends because I was irresponsible or he didn't feel well. Whatever the excuse du jour.

I'm thankful for this picture because it reminds me how far I've come in life and what hell I had to go through to get there. To be free again, to be me again.

This year, is so different...there was no Tree Day...in fact, it's artificial. No ugly sweater party, a newer tradition (if 5+ years is newer). But despite the hurdles, it's so much more. Tomorrow, my parents will be here for the first time in a decade and we will be actually celebrating the holidays on the actual day. My husband, who is no holiday fan, has spent the past 3 weeks decorating the tree when I was stuck with work (honestly, a rarity these days which is another blessing)...crafting his exterior illumination skills with our outdoor lights...doing his best to make this Christmas special. He succeeded.

It's been a year for us all but despite all the craziness, I choose to remember the good - I'm loved, I'm happy, I'm not just employed but have a job that I love but isn't my life with an amazing team. And not only am I never told not to be me, I'm encouraged to be...even that means dancing to whatever ShopRite has rocking.

These are the moments. The ones I hold dear. I miss seeing my friends, I miss being able to hug everyone but I know next year I will appreciate it all that much more. I hope if you're reading this that you take a moment and try to remember all that too.

Smooches,
G

And there it is...

Holy COVID and basically years of so much other drama. Sometimes you see something that reminds you of yourself. This is it.. 4 years ago, tree day. While I'm not a fan of this year, I'm grateful for all the good things and surviving Covid and having a great job...and one that allows me to have a great life outside of it. Irony is having spent the last two months being turning down to recruiters and trying to pass them along to people in need. I'm thankful to have the smile on my face that is still the same, 4 years later. And I'm thankful to the person who put a smile on my face to begin with.

Sometimes, there’s just lyrics

Stolen ones, but still...lyrics have always been my strong suit. Music, that's for you to find and me to listen.
Tell me that you'll turned down the man
Who asks for your hand
'Cause you're waiting for me
And I know, you're gonna be away a while
But I've got no plans at all to leave
And would you take away my hopes and dreams?
And just stay with me, ooh
All my senses come to life
While I'm stumbling home as drunk as I
Have ever been and I'll never leave again
'Cause you are the only one
And all my friends have gone to find
Another place to let their hearts collide
Just promise me, you'll never leave again
'Cause you are the only one
Take my hand and my
Heart and soul, I will
Only have these eyes for you
And you know, everything changes but
We'll be strangers if, we see this through
You could stay within these walls and bleed
Or just stay with me, oh Lord now
All my senses come to life
While I'm stumbling home as drunk as I
Have ever been and I'll never leave again
'Cause you are the only one
And all my friends have gone to find
Another place to let their hearts collide
Just promise me, you'll always be a friend
'Cause you are the only one
Stumbling half drunk, getting myself lost
I am so gone, so tell me the way home
I listen to sad songs, singing about love
And where it goes wrong?
All my senses come to life
While I'm stumbling home as drunk as I
Have ever been and I'll never leave again
'Cause you are the only one
And all my friends have gone to find
Another place to let their hearts collide
Just promise me, you'll always be a friend
'Cause you are the only one

Escape countdown day 2

I was tired of my lady, we'd been together too long
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I'm the love that you've looked for, write to me, and escape"
I didn't think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet, I thought it wasn't half bad
"Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food, I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape
At a bar called O'Malley's, where we'll plan our escape"
So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, "Oh, it's you"
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, "I never knew"
"That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
You're the love that I've looked for, come with me, and escape"
"If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain
If you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape
I'm the love that you've looked for, come with me, and escape"

Playlist countdown

I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today, life is good today
Well, the plane touched down just about three o'clock
And the city's still on my mind
Bikinis and palm trees danced in my head
I was still in the baggage line
Concrete and cars are there own prison bars like this shit I'm living in
But the plane brought me farther
I'm surrounded by water
And I'm not going back again
Got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today, life is good today
Adiós and vaya con Dios
Yeah I'm leaving GA
And if it weren't for Tequila and pretty senoritas
I'd have no reason to stay
Adiós and vaya con Dios
Yeah I'm leaving GA
Gonna lay in the hot sun and roll a big fat one
And grab my guitar and play
Four days flew by like a drunk Friday night
As the summer drew to an end
They can't believe that I just couldn't leave
And I bid adieu to my friends
'Cause my bartender she's from the islands
Her body's been kissed by the sun
And coconut replaces the smell of the bar
And I don't know if it's her or the Rum
I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today, life is good today
Adiós and vaya con Dios
A long way from GA
Yes and all the muchachas they call me Big Poppa
When I throw pesos their way
Adiós and vaya con Dios
A long way from GA
Someone do me a favor and pause for the Jaeger
I'll grab my guitar and play
Adiós and vaya con Dios
Going home now to stay
The senoritas don't care-o when there's no dinero
Yeah, I got no money to stay
Adiós and vaya con Dios
Going home now to stay
(Come on prop it up by the lake)
With my ass in a lawn chair
Toes in the clay
Not a worry in the world a PBR on the way
Life is good today
Life is good today

It’s a lonely night in <<insert city here>>

Ah, husband...this is for you. Long before you shared my love for Mr. Broussard, I used to sing this song to myself on my seemingly infinite business trips. It's what got me through being away and what made me realize how much I just wanted to come home. I'm so happy that life finally found away that traveling doesn't drag me for weeks or even days so I can be home with you and our fur kid.

Thanks for dancing with me in the aisle when he played his last song and humoring me when I wanted to play him during our ceremony, only to change the music to your surprise, to my most favorite musician - YOU.

I love you,
G

Stoplights turn into skylines
And my mind turns to you
Two hundred miles behind, off to this roadside dive
Wondering how this cup of coffee's gonna see me through
This has been our story, same sad song
Ever since the day, the day you came along
It's a lonely night in Georgia
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
It's a lonely night but I'll be alright
'Cause I'm coming on home, coming on home to you
Skylines turn into stoplights
Another town, another crowd
When all the peoples gone home
I'm left all alone, with nothing but you to think about
This has been our story
I know you've heard it all before
'Cause every time I come home
You know I'm right back out that door
It's a lonely night in Georgia
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
It's a lonely night but I'll be alright
'Cause I'm coming on home, coming on home to you
The mark of your body
Through these tall olden pines
The sound of your heart beat
Brings your skin to mine
Your peach can sit right by your southern suns tonight
Now, my senses are heightened for the last 100 miles
It's a lonely night in Georgia
And everything I do reminds me of being with you
It's a lonely night but I'll be alright
'Cause I'm coming on home, coming on home to you (3x)
Lord, Lord, Lord,
I've been gone so long
Lord, I've been on the road so long
But don't you worry darling
'Cause I'm coming on home tonight

Mona Lisa Vito

If I could be anyone, it would be her. Posi-traction.

How to Save a Life

Admittedly, I had unprofessionally cracked when posting on Facebook about this conference call - that would end at 5:48 am with a total of 7 hours 46 minutes and would continue an hour later. We had worked 4 solid days and nights on top of it.

By the time my now husband and dad found me since I was too drowsy to get husband from airport, I was nearly hallucinating and couldn't stand up straight. I wish that it ended there but this torture continued for several more days.

Definitely my breaking point but chronic reminder and although I went through an insane two year journey - I discovered what it meant to get your life back.

While the past two years have been filled with uncertainty and a healthy dose of fear, the trade off to have a life I love is immeasurable. I still have fear, but I know I'm not in control of what happens next. I just keep on hoping and praying for peace and balance - breathe and be grateful every chance I can. It's not perfect, it's filled with ups and downs but there my own ups and downs. I'm not at the whim of an insane dictator with a company. It's lovely and here's hoping for even better times ahead.

Smooches,
G

Often people who give of themselves often don't get help because they forget to ask.
